He also discusses the effect of the war on both Johnson and Rusk; the cabinet and administrative staff who disagreed with U.S. policy in Vietnam (Clifford, Harriman, McNamara, Westmoreland, and Ball); and changing public opinion about the war and its influence on Johnson.
