Shelia Neely-Norman was born in Athens in 1948 where she attended East Athens Elementary School, Lyons Middle School, and Burney-Harris High School before continuing her education in sociology and early childhood education at Paine College and Troy University. In this interview, Neely-Norman shares her experiences growing up in segregated Athens, memories of influential activists including her mother, and discusses the gentrification of neighborhoods and the University's role in it.
