Patricia Clifton was born and raised in Miami, Florida, moved frequently during her early adulthood, and moved permanently to Athens in 1976. In this interview, Clifton shares about her experiences working for Clarke County Public Schools and as the Principal at Hilsman Middle School. She recalls good memories as well as memories of more difficult, challenging situations. She emphasizes the importance of the schools' care for students, the families’ and communities’ role in the students’ lives, and of education in general. She also mentions her husband Ivery D. Clifton’s accomplishments as a prestigious member of the University of Georgia’s faculty.
