Dave Marr grew up in Chicago, Illinois in the late 1970s and early 1980s. As a teenager, Marr had an interest in punk-rock which inspired him to learn guitar and played for the band Mantis after high school. Marr later worked as a DJ for WNUR, Northwestern University's student radio station. At the age of 22, Marr moved to Athens, Georgia. In this interview, Marr talks about his early experience as a punk-rock musician, his development as a songwriter, and his first visit to Athens.
