Kate Dahlstrand is from Tennessee. She is a PhD student at UGA and served in the Army and the National Guard from October 1998 to October 2008 as a field medic. In this interview, Dahlstrand explains why she joined the Army and tells her experiences during training. She describes her deployment to Iraq, the impact 9/11 had on her, and how her service followed her into civilian life.
