Description
The Richard B. Russell Foundation Oral History project documents the origins, evolution, philanthropic activities, and legacy of that foundation as well as its role in the creation of the University of Georgia’s Richard B. Russell Library for Political Research and Studies and the construction of the Richard B. Russell Building, Special Collections Libraries. Interview participants include former Russell Foundation chairpersons, long-serving Foundation trustees, and current and former University of Georgia Libraries administrators. The collection documents the narrators’ personal and professional ties to the Russell Foundation, experiences working with the organization since its inception in 1970, assessment of the Foundation’s past and present philanthropic work, and suggestions for future endeavors.
