Collection: Dean Rusk Oral History Collection

Dublin Core

Description

Dean Rusk discusses David Halberstam's book, The Best and The Brightest. Rusk discounts the accuracy of Halberstam's reporting since he had no contact with the author. He speaks of working in the Truman administration and of Truman's relationship with Dean Acheson, Secretary of State. He discusses President Kennedy's appointment of Adlai Stevenson as United Nations Ambassador as well as his working and personal relationships with McGeorge Bundy, Robert Kennedy, and Jacqueline Kennedy.

Rusk MMMMM, Rusk PPPPP, and Rusk QQQQQ all involve questions from The Best and the Brightest, by David Halberstam.
