Joyce Ervin was born and raised in Athens, Georgia. She has dedicated her life to working in education and community outreach. Ervin is the current CEO of Joyce Ervin’s Open Heart Center, an organization focused on providing assistance and education to children and families in Athens who are experiencing homelessness. In this interview, Ervin details her childhood and her family. She reflects on her education and the people and experiences that inspired her to open the Open Hearts Center. Ervin also describes her organization and shares some of the ways that it has impacted people in Athens.
