Gwendolyn Stevens was born in Athens, Georgia in 1961. She is currently enjoying retirement after a long career in education. In this interview she discusses her upbringing in Athens, including her experiences with desegregation in elementary school and her relationships with teachers and students throughout her time in school. She then talks about her career path and her time spent as a special education teacher, followed by a description of her involvement with the church and the various outreach programs she has engaged in.
