Bessie Little Hinton was born in Aliceville, Alabama in 1956 into a large family. She went through the Aliceville education system, participated in Upward Bound at Stillman College, and after graduation from Aliceville High School, pursued a degree in elementary education at Stillman. She also obtained a Master’s degree in counseling and crafted a strong career in education in various places, eventually settling in Athens where she educated as a reading teacher and a counselor at Winterville Elementary School for more than twenty years. In this interview, she details her experiences in life and emphasizes the importance of providing a positive experience for the children she teaches.
