Ola Jennings Stevens was born in Athens in 1944. After graduating from Athens High and Industrial School she went on to Fort Valley State University, and then received her Master’s degree from UGA and her Doctorate from the University of Tennessee. She then served as the Director of the Clarke County Health Department where she oversaw the establishment of multiple public health programs. In this interview she discusses her education in Athens and her involvement in the Civil Rights Movement, as well as Hot Corner and downtown Athens, and her career in public health.
