Sharon Cooper was born in Athens, Georgia in 1956. She was a member of the second class to graduate from Cedar Shoals High School, and after graduation she married her husband and they have been together ever since. She attended the University of Georgia as a business major, but graduated in 1980 with a degree in early childhood education. Cooper then worked as an elementary school teacher for 25 years. In this interview she discusses her family and early life, as well as her education, which she then relates to her career as an educator. She talks in great detail about her teaching career from her methods and philosophy to the challenges of the profession.
