Description
Antoon Speters was born in the Netherlands and raised in Salt Lake City. He started playing music and singing at a young age with friends. During his time in Utah he played and toured the western US and Canada with multiple groups before moving to Davis, California with his wife. His music career continued there before his move to Athens, where he quickly found a home in the acoustic music community playing mandolin, banjo, and guitar. During his time in Athens he has formed bands like The Hobohemians and played with many groups and individuals including String Theory Old Time Band, Kishi Bashi, and Art Rosenbaum. In his interview, Speters talks about his musical journey, and the many groups he has played with and venues he has played in. He talks about musical genres and specifically cowboy music. He also spends time talking about his experience in the Athens music scene and the different artists he’s met and learned from.
